TAUSAT-2

The 3U dedicated payload "COTS-Capsule" was launched to the ISS to test a new technology for protecting space systems from cosmic radiation.  As an internal ISS experiment under the 'Rakia' project, it was not launched as a standalone satellite. The "COTS-Capsule" included an innovative space mechanism to examine the performance of novel radiation detection and active protective mechanisms to guard electronics from cosmic radiation-induced hazardous phenomena.

The study was headed by PhD candidate Yoav Simhony from the School of Electrical Engineering, together with the head of the School of Physics and Astronomy, Prof. Erez Etzion and Prof. Ofer Amrani from the Faculty of Engineering, as well as Dr. Alex Segal of the Afeka College of Engineering.
