
Ohad Shapira
Research Student
Ohad Shapira is a Master’s student in Electrical Engineering at Tel Aviv University, where he conducts research at the university’s Space Engineering Center. His current work focuses on developing and improving compression standards within satellite technologies. He holds dual Bachelor’s degrees in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics from Ben-Gurion University. Ohad has a strong interest in integrating science and education.
Prior to entering the space field, Ohad held a diverse set of cross-disciplinary roles in Israel’s high-tech sector, spanning software development, algorithm design, and systems engineering. Over the past decade, Ohad has accumulated extensive experience in communications, signal processing, computer vision, embedded systems, and machine learning, allowing him to approach engineering challenges with a broad, cross-functional perspective.
He has been selected to attend the International Space University’s Space Studies Program (SSP) in Seoul - an intensive, interdisciplinary experience that brings together experts and researchers from across the globe. Also, Ohad serves as the Head of the Tel-Aviv University Space Club, where he leads outreach initiatives, organizes events, and fosters a growing community of students passionate about space exploration and research.
